Abstract
The Korea Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (KOSOMBE) celebrated its 30th anniversary on November 13, 2009. Founded in 1979 by several Korean BME pioneers, it has grown to one of the largest and most productive academic societies in Korea. With about 600 active regular members and 1500 student members, the total number of registered members reached 3600 this year. Active members joined the society from about 40 academic institutes offering BS, MS, and PhD degrees in BME, 25 companies in health industry, and several research institutes. Among seventeen in total, eleven former presidents have joined the commemorative ceremonies during annual conferences in May and November, 2009.
