Abstract
Rhinoplasty presents a unique set of challenges for the cosmetic surgeon. Complications may arise from inadequate diagnosis, errors in surgical technique, and variations in the patient’s anatomy or healing response. Complications can manifest themselves intraoperatively, early postoperatively, or in the late postoperative period. With extreme planning and meticulous execution of the surgical plan, complications can be minimized. Complications as a result of overly aggressive surgery may also have functional consequences. Complications from overresection are also more difficult to treat than those caused by underresection. With this in mind, the surgeon should strive to achieve the desired goals of rhinoplasty in a conservative manner
