Abstract
Uranium occurrences are mainly located in the Penninic and Helvetic Zones of the Swiss Alps, in which they occur in a relatively narrow zone from the French border to the southwest along the Rhône and Oberrhein (Anterior Rhine) Valley to Ilanz in the northeast and from there northwards to Walensee (Lake Walen). Most occurrences are in Upper Carboniferous–Permian–Lower Triassic clastic (meta)sediments and pyroclastics (Verrucano), and a few in granitic rocks. As elsewhere in the Alps, ore in all occurrences known to date tend to be of unpredictable distribution, little continuity, small in magnitude, and variable in mineral concentrations and ore contents with commonly low average grades, although some contain impressive grades in spatially limited or spotty ore intervals.

Notes
- 1.
The ore is unpredictably distributed in space and grade in the tectonically complex terrane of the Col des Mines-Nendaz uranium zone. In consequence, the given resource figures may only demonstrate an order of magnitude.
