Abstract

HTLV-1 uveitis is defined as an intraocular inflammation in asymptomatic carriers of human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) also known as human T-lymphotropic virus type 1. In general, HTLV-1 can cause adult T-cell leukemia (ALT)/T-cell lymphoma, and ocular involvement results from either leukemic infiltration of the eye or opportunistic infections such as cytomegalovirus retinitis.
