Zusammenfassung
Im Folgenden präsentieren wir eine Anwendung der netzwerkbasierten Analyse von sozialen Strukturbildungsprozessen in der Informatik für eine Verbesserung der Dokumentensuche in Netzwerken, die auf sog. Peer-to-Peer (P2P)-Systemen beruhen. P2P-Systeme setzen sich aus einer Menge von gleichartigen oder zumindest mit kompatiblen Interfaces versehenen Softwareagenten zusammen, welche auf i.a. verschiedenen, durch ein Verbindungsnetzwerk (typischerweise das Internet) verbundenen, Computern „leben“. Kennzeichnendes Merkmal dieser Softwareagenten ist, dass jeder sowohl als Client als auch als Server agieren kann. Diese Softwareagenten werden daher auch als Servents (Server/Client) bezeichnet. Jeder Servent besitzt eine Datenbank mit IP-Adressen von Computern (Nachbarn dieses Servents), welche andere zum System gehörende Servents „hosten“. Zu den Vorteilen von P2P-Systemen zählen insbesondere die hohe Aktualität der verfügbaren Daten, Ausfallsicherheit und der Schutz vor Manipulationen der Retrievalergebnisse. Nachteilig ist in der Praxis bisher meist der hohe Aufwand für die Suche in P2P-Netzwerken sowie die hohe Netzlast.
