Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag stellt Strategische Studien (Strategic Studies) als interdisziplinären, im Kern jedoch politikwissenschaftlichen, Ansatz zur Erforschung strategischer Fragen und Probleme vor. Als „strategisch“ werden dabei diejenigen politischen Prozesse und Ereignisse verstanden, bei denen infolge des direkten oder indirekten Einsatzes von Macht (nicht immer, aber auch durch den Einsatz militärischer Gewaltmittel) wesentliche politische Weichenstellungen erfolgen. Der Beitrag beleuchtet die historische Entwicklung sowie 14 Themenfelder der Strategischen Studien. Er reflektiert darüber hinaus über ihre theoretischen und methodischen Charakteristika und ihre Marginalisierung in Deutschland.
