Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff Stewardship findet sowohl im Bereich der Management-Theorie als auch in Bereich nachhaltigen unternehmerischen Handelns Verwendung. Gemeinsames Element aller ‚Stewardship-Bemühungen‘ ist dabei der Gedanke einer verantwortungsbewussten, treuhänderischen und fürsorglichen Wirtschaftsweise. Diese Forderung kann sowohl auf das Handeln des Managements innerhalb einer Organisation als auch auf das Handeln der Organisation selbst und deren Produktpolitik bezogen werden. Für das Management bedeutet dies, dass der einzelne Manager die ihm anvertrauten Ressourcen zum Wohle seines Auftraggebers und der Gesellschaft verwalten soll. Bezogen auf die Gesamtorganisation beschreibt der Leitgedanke einer ‚Corporate Stewardship‘ eine nachhaltige Wirtschaftsweise, die auf einen schonenden Umgang mit natürlichen Ressourcen zielt, die es treuhänderisch zu verwalten und für nachfolgende Generationen zu bewahren gilt.
