Am 20. Dezember 1579 getauft; Studium in Cambridge, verfasste ab ca. 1606 Dramen (Komödien, Tragikomödien, Schäferspiele) für Londoner Theater, zu einem großen Teil in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Dramatikern (u. a. Francis Beaumont, Shakespeare, Philip Massinger).
