Mönch in Palästina, ab etwa 578 in Ägypten; unternahm in Begleitung seines Freundes und Schülers Sōphronios (später Patriarch von Jerusalem, 634–638) ab etwa 570 ausgedehnte Reisen nach Syrien, Palästina, Zypern und Samos; kam nach der Eroberung Jerusalems durch die Perser 614 als Exil-Patriarch nach Konstantinopel; hielt sich 619 in Rom auf.
