Zusammenfassung
Das 1637 erschienene Hausbuch, das umfangreichste Lehrgedicht des Autors, handelt von Liebe und Ehe und kann somit als eine Art Fortsetzung von Houwelick, 1625 (Die Heurath, 1711), angesehen werden. Es entstand nach dem Tod von Cats' Frau (1630), als man ihm riet, erneut zu heiraten.
