Das 1937 in zwei Bänden erschienene soziologische Werk ist nicht nur eine umfassende Darlegung ökonomischer und soziologischer Klassiker, sondern auch der Versuch, deren Konvergenz in einem einheitlichen gesellschaftstheoretischen Paradigma („voluntaristische Theorie“) nachzuweisen.
