Zusammenfassung
Das 1970 erschienene Erstlingswerk Farahs erzählt die sehr moderne Geschichte einer jungen Frau, die sich gegen die gesellschaftlichen Konventionen ihres Heimatlandes Somalia auflehnt; in Sprache und Erzählduktus gibt Farah seiner Geschichte jedoch die Melodie einer oralen Erzählung.
