Zussamenfassung
Raabe war Autodidakt und genoss keine wissenschaftliche Ausbildung. Offensichtliche oder vermutete Kenntnisse der empirischen Wissenschaften erwarb er sich durch Selbststudium. Seine nachgelassene Bibliothek enthielt nur ca. 20 als (populär-)naturwissenschaftlich zu bezeichnende Werke (vgl. Bänsch 1970, 163 f.), darunter eine Gruppe von drei Werken Gotthilf Heinrich Schuberts.
