Zusammenfassung

Das menschliche Gefühlsleben ist nicht allein eine Sache von diskreten und gerichteten Emotionen wie Furcht, Freude, Scham, Neid oder Zorn. Zentrale Bedeutung kommt zudem Stimmungen, Grundaffekten, Hintergrundgefühlen und gefühlsmäßigen Orientierungen verschiedener Art zu – kontinuierliche oder subtil changierende Erfahrungsdimensionen, die sich nicht ohne weiteres in das kategoriale Raster etablierter Emotionstheorien einfügen lassen. Vor allem in der phänomenologischen Philosophie sind diese qualitativen Gemütslagen unter verschiedenen Titeln – etwa Stimmung, Atmosphäre oder Befindlichkeit – behandelt worden.
