Clinical Algorithms in General Surgery

Abstract

The differential diagnosis for the newly diagnosed scrotal or testicular mass is broad. The clinician must be able to differentiate emergent diagnoses like testicular torsion and life-threatening malignancy from more benign entities. This chapter provides an algorithm for diagnosis and briefly discusses the initial management of major causes of scrotal and testicular lesions, including malignancy, testicular trauma, and testicular torsion.
