Trauma and Lived Religion

Abstract

In the past decades, trauma studies have become an important field of insight, combining neurosciences, coping theories, and sociocultural and religious studies. In bringing trauma studies into the field of lived religion , this volume offers more profound understanding of the ways in which individuals and communities respond to challenging situations. By giving attention to lived religious wisdom, both scholars and caregivers can reimagine experiences of trauma . There may be both possibilities for transformation and growth and moments of harm. This introductory chapter gives an overview of the volume and the relationship between lived religion and trauma.
