Abstract
The maxillary sinus lift is an essential adjunctive procedure of dental implant surgery. It is a highly successful method of improving bone volume of the posterior maxilla for dental implants. However, it also deals with an anatomical region that crosses into the respiratory system. If not properly handled, this may produce complications that cannot be easily treated. This chapter covers the surgical anatomy and describes the various sinus lift grafting procedures. It offers step-by-step technical details and provides surgical tips that will help clinicians understand and improve their success when performing dental implant surgery in the posterior maxilla. There is also an update on alternative solutions that have been developed. Finally, it covers potential complications and their management. The authors hope this chapter will be an insightful read for beginners to moderate level practitioners.
