Abstract

A mature approach to stress will focus on its inevitability and avoid viewing it as a matter of personal strength or weakness. Planning for stress and making its evaluation and management a routine component of preventative self-care presents the best mitigation strategy. Intentionally adopting healthy habits, including self-advocacy, should form the basis of this strategy for all physicians.
