Colposcopy and Surgical Management of Early Stage Cervical Cancer

Abstract

Cervical cytology is one of the most successful screening programs and is available to all women between the age of 25 and 64 in England. There are well established pathways for the management of abnormal results. Colposcopy is the effector arm of the cervical screening loop. Its function is to diagnose histological abnormalities in women with abnormal cervical screening tests so that progression to cervical cancer can be prevented. This chapter deals guidelines related to abnormal cervical screening and avoidance of litigation related to it.
