Abstract
This study builds on the behavioural perspective of Green IT to investigate the cognitive determinants of IT professional Green IT beliefs and the implications of such beliefs on their attitude towards Green IT practices. We posited that an individual’s belief about Green IT could be informed by one’s knowledge and awareness of the adverse effect of non-sustainable practices on the environment. Also, we hypothesized beliefs as the determinant of one’s attitude towards Green IT practices. The outcome of the empirical investigation on a sample of data collected from IT professionals in Malaysia provided support for our hypotheses. Furthermore, the implications of the ensuing findings for the existing literature and the successful management of Green IT practices were discussed.
