Abstract
The Geological Collections of the University of Cologne (GCC) contain research material of the geologists from the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy since the 1950s. The most important sections are the collection of types and reference material of more than 100 publications since 1950, indicated by the acronym GIK, i.e. ‘Geologisches Institut Köln’ (Geological Institute Cologne), and the famous Hermann Weyland collection, consisting of fossil plants collected between 1920 and 1960.
