Adjuncts to Common Bile Duct Exploration

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Choledocholithiasis

Abstract

Various adjuncts to common bile duct exploration exist, including biliary drains, stents, papillary balloon dilation, and sphincterotomy. These adjuncts will be reviewed in detail, with a discussion of techniques, outcomes, and potential complications. A proper understanding and utilization of these adjuncts will help increase the chance of success in difficult or unusual cases of choledocholithiasis.
