Abstract
Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a chronic pruritic inflammatory skin disease.
The etiology is unknown. It usually starts in early infancy, but also affects adults.
It is often associated with elevated serum level of immunoglobulin E and personal or family history of eczema, asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Female to male ratio 1.14:1.
Treatment goals are to reduce symptoms (pruritus and dermatitis), prevent exacerbations and minimize therapeutic risks.
