Abstract

Many countries among them Colombia are in the process of implementing Electronic Health record. However, there are currently no guidelines for providing security and confidentiality to the records. This article presents an analysis of the existing gaps in the Colombian regulations regarding security of health records. Based on this analysis, a set of guidelines for the proper management and custody of electronic health records is proposed. These guidelines are based on international standards and regulations in this area. Finally, an evaluation of compliance with the proposed guidelines of two software platforms is presented.
