Abstract
Peristomal complications affecting the skin around the intestinal stoma are very common. This can add to the decreased quality of life of not only having a stoma but also the annoyance of yet another issue to address. There are various causes of peristomal irritations. This can be caused by chemical, mechanical, disease and infectious of origin. The first step in the treatment is to identify the cause of the skin irritant and then appropriate treatments of these conditions will make a big difference in the improvement of the quality of life in these patients.
