Abstracts

This chapter provides an overview of basic concepts of insulin pump management. Topics covered include patient selection, bolus insulin and basal insulin, adjusting pump settings, insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio (ICR), and the insulin correction factor (ICF). Patient safety while using the insulin pump including treatment of hypoglycemia and sick-day regimens is highlighted.
