Abstract
The chapter will look at new textual discoveries in the context of the psycho-geography of the London slums of 1897 especially relating Dracula and the vampire to contemporary accounts of Jack the Ripper in both newspapers, novels and film. Using the recent discovery of a ‘new’ version of Dracula called ‘Powers of Darkness’ published in Icelandic in the early twentieth century the chapter will also look at the textual variations with the classic Dracula in relation to Victorian concerns around the rise of anarchism, the occult and the importance of exploration, especially as it relates to Romania.
