Abstract
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a remarkable tool with multiple applications. Since its introduction approximately 30 years ago, it has become a pivotal modality for numerous indications such as the evaluation of pancreatobiliary pathologies, staging of luminal gastrointestinal cancers, assessment of subepithelial lesions, and for tissue acquisition [1, 2]. During the past few years, EUS has shifted from a purely diagnostic tool to a more interventional procedure. For example, it can now be used to drain fluid collections, to provide biliary access and decompression, to perform celiac plexus neurolysis, and to deposit fiducial markers.
