Abstract
A 4-year-old girl with normal development until 8 months before when she had an upper respiratory infection with cerebellar ataxia and dyspraxia. On MRI T2-weighted periventricular and subcortical white matter foci were found, and a diagnosis of acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis (ADEM) was proposed. Clinical symptoms totally recovered with corticotherapy. A week ago she started again with mild gait disturbance and came to the emergency department after a minor trauma. Neurological exam showed central cerebellar ataxia, mild paraparesis and visual impairment. MRI was repeated and the images are shown.
