Abstract
A 41-year-old female presented to the emergency department with a lesion on her left forearm. The patient suspected she was bitten 3 days prior by something while cleaning her attic. She subsequently developed a fever (103 °F), chills and myalgias throughout the course of the day. This chapter reviews possible causes of this patient’s symptomatology, including a thorough discussion of spider envenomation with focus on Loxosceles reclusa, commonly known as the brown recluse spider.
