Abstract
Tibial plateau fractures are relatively common injuries with highly variable degrees of soft tissue and articular injury. Operative management is utilized for knee instability, widening of the plateau, or significant articular displacement. Compartment syndrome is an infrequent complication that is a surgical emergency when it does occur. The first symptom of compartment syndrome is pain out of proportion to the exam and injury and passive stretch of the affected extremity. Associated intra-articular pathology is common and can be addressed with direct visualization at times although some surgeons are utilizing advanced imaging to diagnose intra-articular pathology preoperatively.
