Abstract

Congenital coxa vara is an abnormal decrease in the femoral neck-shaft angle in children that is caused by a primarily cartilaginous defect in the developing femoral neck. Children often present with a limp, external rotation of the leg, and it can be associated with other skeletal dysplasias. Surgical treatment is often a valgus osteotomy. Timing is dependent on the degree of acetabular dysplasia and patient age.
