Pediatric Anesthesiology Review

Abstract

Tonsillectomy alone or in conjunction with adenoidectomy is one of the most common pediatric surgical procedures and is, at the same time, fraught with the potential for substantial risk especially in children with sleep-disordered breathing. Also considered are choanal atresia and CHARGE syndrome, juvenile nasal angiofibroma, peritonsillar abscess, and differentiating between epiglottitis, croup, and bacterial tracheitis. In addition, there is a discussion about jet ventilation and laser safety.
