Abstract
The male genitourinary exam is an essential component of the annual health supervision visit as well as certain interval visits, and it should not be deferred because of patient or provider issues. If the exam is done in a proper manner, it can provide important information about the male’s sexual development, presence of congenital or acquired abnormalities as well as detection of disease. The exam presents an opportunity for the patient’s most intimate concerns to be answered in a caring and compassionate way.
