Adult Umbilical Reconstruction

Abstract

The umbilicus is a surface marking of the anterior abdominal wall. Its absence causes emotional disturbance, and in procedures which involve its dislocation or destruction, the umbilicus should be resited or reconstructed. This chapter outlines the clinical anatomy of the umbilicus and demonstrates an anatomical technique for resiting the umbilicus and for neo-umbilicoplasty.
