Pregnancy and Congenital Heart Disease

Abstract

Incidence: The Fontan operation is a palliative procedure for patients with tricuspid atresia, double-inlet ventricle, double-outlet ventricle, pulmonary atresia with intact septum and hypoplastic left heart syndrome, all rare congenital lesions. About 5 % of all patients with congenital heart disease need a Fontan operation.
