Abstract

The book presents the structural biomimetic design method, its formation, knowledge bases, manual, case studies, and experiments. In this last chapter, we discuss and summarize the contributions and results. We elaborate on the innovative aspects of this research including the interdisciplinary knowledge transfer, technical view of biological systems, and the patterns approach. We point major achievements and elaborate on a by-product contribution to the design literature – a unique documentation of a design method formation – and for the innovation assessment literature. We conclude with future promising research topics.
