Abstract

Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid. Arginine is synthesized from citrulline in arginine and proline metabolism by argininosuccinate synthetase and argininosuccinate lyase in the cytosol (Wijnands et al., Nutrients 7(3):1426–1463, 2015).
