Abstract

Efficient communication is crucial to the successful functioning of any team. This allows healthcare professionals to collaborate by assuming complementary roles, cooperate, share responsibility, and make decisions effectively. When the individuals responsible for patient care do not communicate effectively, patient safety is at risk and medical errors can occur. There are many tools to help relay critical information, with several being highlighted in this chapter.
