Abstract
The influence of nanopore confinement on the glass transition and dynamics of glass-forming liquids is reviewed. Recent calorimetric measurements are discussed for small molecules, oligomers, and polymers confined to pores, including those having specific interactions with the pores walls, and results are placed in the context of previous work. The ability to extract information on the dynamics of nanopore-confined chains from changes in the polymerization kinetics and thermodynamics is also discussed. Of particular interest are changes in the dynamics for glass-forming liquids in nanconfined but near-equilibrium conformations.
