Abstract
Conventional tied sutures can have very real shortcomings as the integrity of the securing knot is always operator dependent. The choice of suture material and unnecessary overuse of material use may stimulate infection by being a foreign nidus. The author discusses the use of The V-Locâ„¢ 90 and V-Locâ„¢ 180 devices that are unidirectional barbed sutures. The use of the sutures are in implant based reconstruction, autologous reconstruction, nipple-areolar reconstruction, mastectomy skin, and secondary reconstructive procedures.
