The Determinants of U.S. International Fast Food Franchising: An Application to the Pacific Basin

  • Conference paper
Proceedings of the 1987 Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) Annual Conference

Abstract

This paper studies the effect of both economic and demographic factors on the international fast food franchising. The study utilizes regression analysis of pooled cross-section (8 countries) and time-series data. It is found that among the economic factors, the market size is the most significant. On the other hand, both the level of urbanization and the ratio of female workers to the total labor force are positively related to the international restaurant franchising.
