Abstract

This chapter describes the technologies and trade-offs related to the projection of stereoscopic 3D images in a cinematic environment. Particular emphasis is placed on the struggles throughout the industry to identify an optimal technology related to 3D glasses. Some discussion is considered about next-generation solutions, but autostereoscopic 3D is not expected in the cinema environment for more than a decade.
