Complications of Cirrhosis

Abstract

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is one of the most important patient-reported outcomes that has gained increasing importance in today’s health-care environment, especially, when assessing the impact of a chronic disease or its treatment. Chronic conditions such as liver disease and cirrhosis have significant negative impact on a patient’s HRQOL. Additionally, their treatment can further impact patients’ well-being. This chapter reviews the current measurement tools used to measure HRQOL in patients with cirrhosis as well as offering the reader a brief HRQOL update for these patients.
