Abstract
My overall teaching philosophy encompasses several ideas I adhere to strongly. First and foremost, I see my role as the provider of value for the students. That is, the students should be benefiting from the time and money they spend on their education. Therefore, I view my students as customers. I expect them to learn the most important concepts in the course. I also expect them to apply these concepts to in-class activities, assignments, and a term project. Second, I must be able to maintain effective communication with my students. Communication is the most important tool I can use to help my students achieve their educational goals. I also stress that effective oral and written communications skills are essential to succeed in the business world. I want my students to not only learn, but to be the best business professionals they can be. I do not accept papers or projects with spelling and grammatical errors. I also give students techniques to be effective oral presenters. I also believe that learning is a two-way street. I am always learning new things from my students or from seminars and conferences I attend. If I do not know something, I tell the students that and come back with an answer at the earliest possible time. I use real world examples to make the material and concepts applicable to the students. Finally, I stress technical competence and incorporate the latest software and web technology that I can into the classroom.
