Abstract
Without support, developmental tasks can be demanding for the growing child and adolescent. While certain behaviors and emotional reaction can be appropriate and developmentally normal, other concerning behaviors may point to a psychiatric condition that needs to be detected and addressed with appropriate interventions. The focus of this chapter is to provide the pediatrician a basic understanding of common presentations related to mental health in children and adolescents.
