Abstract

Gene therapy is a significant preclinical and clinical research area of medical genetics. As such, there are important elements of bioethics that require the attention of researchers engaged in clinical research involving gene therapies. The field of medical genetics continues to develop with varied techniques and methods designed for translation from laboratory to bedside. This entry reviews developments and identifies various ethical issues associated with various modalities of gene therapy.
