Abstract

Reaction of a phenyl ring with a diazoacetic ester to give a cyclohepta–2,4,6– trienecarboxylic acid ester. Intramolecular Büchner reaction is more useful in synthesis. Cf. Pfau–Platter azulene synthesis.
