Abstract
Ten year old girl presented to me with a congenital mid foot amputation. Adequate base support is necessary for a stable gait as the family refused to use the prosthesis. Ilizarov external fixator was applied to the tibia, posterior part of the calcaneus, and the anterior part of the talus and calcaneus. Corticotomy was performed and distraction started after 7 days. Magnitude of lengthening achieved was 5.2 cm. The external fixation period was 7 months. The complications were superficial pin track infection and premature consolidation of the regenerate.
