Abstract
Patients with lower limb deformities constitute a large proportion of referrals to both pediatric and adult orthopedic clinics. A practical approach to assessing and treating lower limb deformities should include four distinct steps. First, know what is normal: determine if there a deformity or if it is part of the normal development of the child. Second, define the characteristics of this deformity (type, site, plane, and magnitude). Third, decide if the deformity needs to be treated (depending on the clinical picture). F ourth, generate a treatment plan. In this atlas, more than 300 cases of lower and upper limb deformities of various etiologies are presented. A detailed analysis of these deformities is a prerequisite for appropriate planning of surgical correction. This chapter presents a practical approach to the assessment of lower limb deformities.
